Dalai Lama announces he will have successor after his death

Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama on Wednesday affirmed that the centuries-old institution of the Dalai Lama will continue after his death. The remarks by the leader, who turns 90 on Sunday, countered the fears of many Tibetans that China will choose his successor in a bid to reinforce control over a territory it poured troops into in 1950.
