The Democratic lawmakers shooting suspect has been arrested!
After nearly a two-day manhunt, Vance Boelter has been captured by police. Early on Saturday morning, Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were gunned down in their Minnesota home shortly before state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark were murdered in theirs. When police arrived at the Hortman household at around 3:35 a.m. local time, they found the shooting suspect exiting the residence in a police uniform. They engaged in a shootout but unfortunately he got away, leaving behind a vehicle and a manifesto with other potential targets.
Law enforcement officers ID’d the suspect as Boelter and later detained his wife before finding another vehicle of his about 60 miles southwest of the shootings, but no Boelter. Until now!

On Sunday evening, governor Tim Walz, whose name was on Boelter’s list, announced the suspect was apprehended:
“After a two-day manhunt, two sleepless nights, law enforcement have apprehended … One man’s unthinkable actions have altered the state of Minnesota. This cannot be the norm. This cannot be the way that we deal with our political differences.”

What an eerie sight!
Drew Evans, superintendent of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, added in the press conference:
“He was taken into custody under a state criminal warrant. He is charged, at this time, with the murders of Speaker Hortman and her husband, Mark Hortman, also with the shootings of John Hoffman and Yvette Hoffman for those crimes.”
According to a criminal complaint obtained by Reuters, Boelter was charged with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree attempted murder. You can watch the full press conference (below):
As of now, Senator Hoffman and his wife are receiving care for their gunshot wounds at a hospital.
So scary! Thank goodness Boelter is off the streets and in police custody!
