Well, this is awkward…
Denise Richards‘ now-estranged husband Aaron Phypers just filed for divorce after six years of marriage, as we reported earlier on Monday. But this comes after the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star swearing on camera just four months ago that she would NEVER get divorced again. Even if she and Aaron hated each other! Sooooo, uh, what happened?!

Back in March, an episode of the 54-year-old Bravo veteran’s RHOBH spin-off show Denise Richards & Her Wild Things saw the duo address the topic of divorce. And at the time, they were adamant that a split would never, ever be in the cards. Speaking to the camera in a confessional — with Aaron by her side — Denise said this in that four-month-old ep:
“I’ll never get divorced again, even if we hate each other.”
Phypers readily agreed, and responded like this:
“Yeah, I’m never getting divorced again. Even if we hate each other. I’m not going to f**king get divorced.”
Later in the segment, Phypers said the pair could “get different homes” if things really turned sour in their relationship. But he ultimately landed on his belief that the pair was “not going to hate each other” no matter what. And Richards co-signed!
…And then what happened?!
BTW, later in that same March episode, Denise did admit this:
“It’s not easy being married to me.”
Phypers jokingly (uh, we think?) agreed, then quipped how glad he was that she had been the one to say it first.
But now, after this week’s divorce drama?!?! Maybe his remark wasn’t a joke. Womp womp!
