Eric Dane is breaking his silence and giving his first sit-down interview since revealing months ago that he’s been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Now, even though the world has only seen a couple seconds of the forthcoming chat prior to its full debut next week, we can already tell that it’s really powerful.
On Thursday, Good Morning America dropped a teaser clip on Facebook that quickly started making the rounds. In it, journalist Diane Sawyer is seen sitting down with the 52-year-old actor to talk frankly about his difficult terminal diagnosis.

The clip is only 30 seconds long and meant to promote their forthcoming interview for the daytime TV talk show, but emotion carries the moment. In it, the Grey’s Anatomy alum is seen holding hands with Sawyer at one point. While in close quarters, he said:
“I wake up every day and I’m immediately reminded that this is happening. It’s not a dream.”
The quick clip then showed the Euphoria star breaking down into tears, and saying:
“I don’t think this is the end of my story. I don’t feel like this is the end of me.”
Wow.
That’s going to be a really powerful interview when it drops in full on Monday.
You can watch the teaser (below):
ALS is a rare degenerative disease which causes progressive paralysis. Issues start with twitching and weakness in limbs, and then typically move to slurred speech. In time, those diagnosed with ALS slowly lose their ability to speak, walk, and even breathe on their own.
It is also commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, having been named after the world-famous former baseball player who was diagnosed with the condition a century ago.
ALS has no known cure. Upon being diagnosed, people usually live between three and five more years, according to the Mayo Clinic. However, some patients can live decades longer.
We are sending all our love to Eric Dane right now.
