Firing was reported outside the house of controversial YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav in an upscale locality of Gurugram early this morning. Three unidentified attackers arrived on a bike at his house in Sector 56 around 5:30-6 am. Two of them fired at least a dozen shots and escaped.
Mr Yadav was not at home at the time of the firing; the police said he had gone outside Haryana for some work. The caretaker of the house and some family members were inside but no one was injured in the firing. Mr Yadav has not filed any complaint yet.
The firing targeted the ground floor and first floor of the house. The YouTuber lives on the second and third floors.
While such firings are often seen as an extortion tactic, his father confirmed that his son had not received any threat. “The police are here. I was sleeping when the firing occurred. About 25-30 shots were fired. Elvish didn’t get any threat. Three men were seen on the bike on CCTV, while two (of them) were seen at the gate,” Ramavtar Yadav told reporters.
The police reached the Yadav residence and collected evidence. CCTV footage from nearby areas is also being scanned. The police said that legal action has been initiated, and further action will be taken after the family lodges a complaint.
This follows a firing at Haryanvi singer and rapper Rahul Yadav alias Fazilpuria’s car was shot at last month. Fazilpuria had escaped unhurt in the incident. Days earlier, his close aide Rohit Shaukeen was killed in broad daylight in Gurugram. Gangster Sunil Sardhania of the Himanshu Bhau gang had claimed responsibility for the murder.
Mr Yadav has been a controversial figure in the influencer circle. He was arrested last year for allegedly organising a rave party in which snake venom was used as a drug. A parallel probe was later launched against him by the Enforcement Directorate, and he was questioned under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
