Florence + The Machine have announced an “intimate” London screening to debut the visual accompaniment to their new album, ‘Everybody Scream’. Find all the details below.
The London band are due to release their sixth studio record on October 31, following on from 2022’s ‘Dance Fever’. Florence Welch and co. have already previewed the record with the title track and the single ‘One Of The Greats’.
Both songs arrived with striking visuals helmed by US photographer and director Autumn de Wilde, who has also shot the artwork for the group’s current era.
Today (Monday October 6), Welch and de Wilde have shared details of “a private screening of the visual world they created for Florence + The Machine – ‘Everybody Scream’”.
“The event consists of a screening of official videos from the visual world of ‘Everybody Scream’ and a Q&A between Florence Welch and creative director Autumn de Wilde. There will be no performance element,” an official description reads.
The event is due to take place at a secret location in London next Tuesday (October 14) between 4pm and 6pm BST.
Fans who pre-order ‘Everybody Scream’ from F+TM’s official store before 5pm BST this Wednesday (October 8) will be entered into a draw to win a pair of tickets to the “intimate screening event”. Alternatively, you can sign up here.
The prize draw is open to UK residents aged 18 or above only. There are 30 pairs of tickets up for grabs in total, but travel and accommodation costs will not be included. Find more information in the post above.
The ‘Everybody Scream’ album contains contributions from IDLES‘ Mark Bowen, Mitski, and The National’s Aaron Dessner – all of whom worked with Welch on the title track, too.
Florence + The Machine will embark on a UK and European arena tour early next year. The forthcoming run of shows includes two dates at The O2 in London – find any remaining tickets here.
Welch previously revealed that the inspiration for the ‘Everybody Scream’ album came from undergoing lifesaving surgery during the ‘Dance Fever’ tour in 2023. She has since opened up further about the procedure, revealing that she had experienced an ectopic pregnancy.
“The closest I came to making life was the closest I came to death,” she explained. “And I felt like I had stepped through this door, and it was just full of women, screaming.”
She previously spoke about exploring spiritual mysticism and folk horror – understanding the limits of her body and questioning what it meant to be “healed”. These are themes that helped shape the record, along with exploration of womanhood, partnership, ageing and dying.
Elsewhere, Welch talked about being inspired by JADE and the current “experimental” side of pop on her “most personal” LP yet, while recalling working with “one of [her] favourite artists of all time”, Mitski.
In other news, the frontwoman has discussed how she “decided to make some changes” after joining Taylor Swift on stage at Wembley Stadium.
