French President Emmanuel Macron and China’s President Xi Jinping agreed in a phone call Thursday to cooperate on global trade and end a dispute over European brandy imports, with Xi urging the French leader to help “safeguard international trade rules” in concert with Beijing amid the uncertainty caused by the threat of US tariffs.
