Three French employers in the champagne industry are on trial for human trafficking and exploiting around 50 migrant workers during the 2023 grape harvest. Investigators reported the workers, primarily from Mali, Mauritania, Ivory Coast, and Senegal, were housed in unsafe and degrading conditions. The trial is being held in Chalons-en-Champagne.
