French Prime Minister François Bayrou took an unusually stern tone against the United States and its leader on Tuesday, accusing Donald Trump of having unleashed a “hurricane” on the world by turning on traditional allies and by triggering a trade war. The US president’s actions has made France particularly vulnerable, he said, adding that the country urgently needs to cut its budget deficit to address the “tsunami of destabilisation”.
