Girl-Meets-‘Manchild’ on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ After Sabrina Carpenter Gives Former Co-Star Props: ‘So Proud of You’

Tuesday night’s (Sept. 30) episode of Dancing With the Stars was a mini Girl Meets World reunion of sorts. After making it through weeks one and two with a tango to Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” and a cha-cha-cha to Corona’s “The Rhythm of the Night” last week, Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel and partner Pasha Pashkov pulled off a slick foxtrot to Sabrina Carpenter‘s “Manchild.”

The song choice was perfectly on-the-nose for Fishel, 44, since the track from the actress’ former Girl Meets World co-star Carpenter’s new Man’s Best Friend album on TikTok Night was enough to keep her in the competition for another week. Plus, according to EW, it was a chance for the two former sitcom besties to re-connect.

During rehearsals, Carpenter, 26, dialed Fishel up and gave her a pep talk. “I’ve known for Sabrina for over a decade now,” said Fishel of the singer/actress who played her TV daughter’s best friend, Maya Hart, on the Disney Channel series that ran from 2014-2017. “And I consider her to be like a daughter to me.”

In a video call during rehearsals this week, Carpenter sent love to her TV pal, telling her, “I just found out you’re dancing to ‘Manchild’ this week. I’m so excited to see your dance,” with Fishel replying, “I can’t wait to try to recreate it and fail miserably.” Fishel didn’t face-plant, though, she scored her highest marks so far this season with a 21/30 in the dance that incorporated some TikTok moves into choreo judger Bruno Tonioli called “elegant” and “stylish.”

“I’m just so proud of you,” Carpenter said in her chat with Fishel. “And I love you so much.”

The good vibes continued on-air, with Fishel dedicating her performance to Carpenter, saying, “We don’t want to let Sabrina down, so Sabrina, this one’s for you.” After the dance, co-host Julianne Hough headed to the sky box to interview Fishel, who said it was “pretty amazing” to dance to one of Carpenter’s songs. “She has given me so many opportunities to be immensely proud of her over the years,” she said. “I hope I gave her one tonight.”

Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC and Disney+ on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
