The Trump administration is weighing relinquishing the U.S. role as NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe. The position, which oversees all NATO operations in Europe, has been filled by a four-star U.S. general since its creation in 1950. FRANCE 24’s Yinka Oyetade speaks to James Townsend Jr, Senior Advisor at the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security at the Atlantic Council. He says that the move will give Russia ‘the opportunity to make a lot of mischief’.
