In Southern Italy, one of Europe’s oldest languages is on the verge of disappearing. Grecanico, a form of Ancient Greek still spoken in Calabria, has survived empires and centuries of neglect. Today, only a few hundred speakers remain – and the race to keep it alive has begun.
