The ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP) took an early lead Wednesday, winning five of Guyana’s ten district while newcomer We Invest in Nationhood (WIN), led by US-sanctioned businessman Azruddin Mohamed, captured one district. The South American country, one of the world’s fastest-growing economies since its 2019 oil boom, began its election on Monday.
