Is the father figure herself going on Call Her Daddy? Here’s why Taylor Swift fans think that’s the case.
On Monday (Oct. 20), a post from Taylor Nation sent fans — and podcaster Alex Cooper’s Daddy Gang — into a tizzy. Reposting a Swiftie who’d uploaded a photo of the pop star looking shocked and written on X, “Me when she father figures,” Swift’s official fan account wrote, “Omg did you just call her daddy?”
Now, TN may have just been referencing one of Swift’s past jokes. After she dropped Folklore in 2020, Josh Visser posted, “Taylor Swift didn’t need to own the indie dad demo, but she did.”
The 14-time Grammy winner then replied at the time, “Omg did you just call me ‘daddy.’”
However, some fans think the fan account was teasing that Swift’s next interview will take place on Cooper’s podcast, which often hosts A-list celebrity guests. (Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera, to name a few, have all sat down with her.)
“TAYLOR ON CALL HER DADDY?!” one Swiftie replied to Taylor Nation, while another fan wrote, “Reference aside, I SMELL A PODCAST.”
Call Her Daddy has not teased any potential upcoming appearance by the superstar, and has not yet responded to Billboard‘s request for comment.
If Swift does appear on Call Her Daddy, it won’t be her first podcast appearance this year. In August, the singer guested on fiancé Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce’s New Heights, on which she announced her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl. The LP has since made a historic debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with more than 4 million copies sold in its first week, blowing past Adele’s previous record for biggest album opening in the modern era.
With her past podcast experience in mind, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Swift might keep the trend going by appearing on Call Her Daddy. The show’s title is also on theme with one of the standout tracks on Showgirl — “Father Figure,” on which Swift fantasizes about being a Godfather-like character.
“I was your father figure, we drank that brown liquor/ You made a deal with this devil, turns out my dick’s bigger,” she sings on the track. “You want a fight? You found it, I got the place surrounded/ You’ll be sleeping with the fishes before you know you’re drowning.”
