Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said Thursday that a state-run consultation had given him a “strong mandate” to oppose Ukraine’s accession to the European Union during the EU summit in Brussels. As the closest EU ally of Russia, the nationalist leader has repeatedly raised objections and placed hurdles in the way of Kyiv’s efforts to join the 27-member bloc.
