In a ‘secret programme’, thousands of Afghans and families brought to UK after data breach

Thousands of Afghans who worked for the British government were brought to the United Kingdom in a secret relocation programme after a major data breach in 2022 that put their lives at risk, Defence Minister John Healey said on Tuesday. Just six months after the Taliban seized Kabul, a UK official accidentally leaked information about 19,000 Afghans who asked to be relocated to Britain.
