Kanye West Didn’t Mean To Change His Name Again — He Filled Out A Form Wrong!

Yea or nay, Ye?

Kanye West just indicated a second name change last week — this time, no joke, to Ye Ye — but it was a mistake. That’s what his reps are saying now, at least.

Last Tuesday, a report surfaced that Hussain Lalani, the chief financial officer in charge of all the rapper’s various business interests, had filed new documents in California listing the rapper’s official name as “Ye Ye.” Page Six did some digging and found out the documentation was legit as a name for the Chicago-born rapper. But it’s not a forever thing, or even a purposeful change. Instead it was all a really bad mistake!!

According to a second, new Page Six report on Monday, the documents were filed under “Ye Ye” because an earlier online form reflecting Ye’s past name change aspirations required a first and last name to be entered into both submission fields on the gov’s website. That is, the portal couldn’t accept just one name, apparently.

A rep for the Hurricane rapper explained:

“There is no ‘Ye Ye.’ [The dual name] was because of an oddity created by an online form that required something in both first name and last name fields.”

Oops!

Kind of a weird one, right? Not “Ye” alone, as the Yeezy mogul has wanted for a while, nor Ye West, which was the result of Ye’s actual recognized legal name change back in 2021, but Ye Ye. Welp! That’s a strange mistake…

Anyways, the new docs surfaced to address various business entities Ye Ye owns: his Yeezy Apparel brand, his Yeezy Record Label, and his Getting Out Our Dreams Inc. music venture. And for now, at least, they’ve all got “Ye Ye” listed under the “manager or member name” field. But clearly it sounds like that’s not a forever thing. Ooookay!

Whatever the case, Ye Ye has been thinking about his name for quite some time. It was all the way back in 2018 that he first asked people to call him “Ye” instead of Kanye West. Then, as we mentioned, he eventually filed legal paperwork in 2021 to make that change official.

Fast forward to the very end of last month, and Kim Kardashian‘s ex-husband hopped on X (Twitter) to address his now-obsolete username there, too:

And thus, the age-old question must be asked: what’s in a name?

A lot, evidently.
