Katy Perry ‘Struggled For Months’ Over Releasing Orlando Bloom Breakup Ballad Bandaids: ‘Scary To Be Vulnerable’

Katy Perry says her new song wasn’t an easy one to release following her breakup from Orlando Bloom.

For a long time Mz. Perry has been known for her emotional ballads, quirky love songs, and pop hits — but her newest track Bandaids was something entirely different. We mean, doing a breakup song after the Russell Brand whirlwind was one thing. Coming on the tail end of her split with her baby daddy and partner of nine years?? We can’t imagine how tough it would be to write a song like this, much less release it — especially now, considering her last releases have received some pretty harsh backlash from the public.

But she DID release it — and oh boy, it’s a tear-jerker. The song details how Katy’s relationship with Orlando was a slow, painful ending. She sings in the song:

“Got so used to you letting me down / No use tryna send flowers now / Telling myself you’ll change, you don’t / Band-Aids over a broken heart.”

SO sad!!!

The music video is also sad, showcasing the 41-year-old getting hurt and dying over and over again. Watch for yourself (below):

She really showcased her pain through her art with this one… Ugh.

In a new Instagram post, Katy let us into her headspace a little bit. She wrote on Sunday:

“thank you for the love on bandaids… tbh I struggled for months with the idea of putting this song out… even after all these years it can be scary to be vulnerable… but hopefully the lyrics of this song resonate with someone going through what I have been through and maybe they won’t feel so alone and will find the strength to keep going like I have”

Aww… Such a sweet sentiment.

In the carousel of photos, the Firework singer shares some behind-the-scenes moments from the video shoot. Two quotes stick out among all the photos, though, with one reading:

“Of all the paths you take in life make sure a few of them are dirt”

The final pic in her post also has a thought-provoking quote:

“everything is a win when the goal is to experience”

Huh. See the full post (below):

It really sounds like Katy is accepting her breakup as best she can and moving on. And now she’s got Justin Trudeau to be by her side through all this, too!
