Kelly Clarkson is apologizing to her fans.
After a controversial first weekend, the Since You Been Gone singer hit The Colosseum stage at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas to officially kick off her Studio Sessions residency. In case you’re not caught up, the intimate residency was supposed to kick off last weekend, but she made the shocking decision to cancel just 90 minutes before showtime because all the “prep” and “rehearsals” had “taken a toll” on her voice. She told fans in a lengthy announcement on Instagram:
“I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.”
A lot of people — fans and her staffers alike — were pissed. But she’s here now and ready to make up for lost time!

On Friday, The Kelly Clarkson Show host hit the stage and addressed her last-minute cancellation the weekend before:
“I’m so sorry if some of y’all had last weekend’s shows. I’m so sorry. We can’t help our bodies sometimes if we get sick, and that happens.”
She continued:
“But thank y’all so much for showing up, we are so excited.”
The American Idol winner went on to gush about her Studio Sessions residency being her “favorite show” she’s ever put together because it gives fans a look into what her real studio recording sessions look like:
“I love being in the studio, and that’s where this entire idea came from. There’s nothing like getting in the studio with a bunch of musicians and just vibing with each other.”

People reported that at one point in the show, Kelly took a shot of tequila with an audience member and told the crowd:
“I’m celebrating because I had to cancel last weekend. I cried. I was so sick, it sucked. I’m so happy to be here.”
Well, we’re just happy she’s here for fans now! After her cancellations last weekend, reports surfaced indicating she was “fighting some serious hidden battles” privately which also led into the decision.
We hope she’s healthy and happy and continues to prioritize her mental and physical health! On Saturday, she took to Instagram to share photos from opening night. See (below):
