Kenya’s food supply chain is looking less than hearty… Farmers are selling their produce low but urban customers are paying more than ever for staples. At the heart of this disconnect are brokers — middlemen who dictate market prices, squeezing both farmers and buyers. With no regulation to control their influence, these traders have turned Kenya’s agricultural economy into a system where only they profit, leaving both ends of the chain struggling.
