Kevin Costner’s legal team is addressing the Horizon scandal.
Last month, news broke that stunt performer Devyn LaBella filed a bombshell lawsuit against the 70-year-old over an unscripted rape scene in Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 2, which he directed. LaBella claimed she was hired to double for Ella Hunt in the film. She shot a scene in which Roger Ivens was directed to “violently” simulate rape, something she claims she was not made aware of beforehand. The stunt performer also claimed there was no intimacy coordinator on set, which goes against SAG-AFTRA rules. She said in a statement:
“On that day, I was left exposed, unprotected, and deeply betrayed by a system that promised safety and professionalism. What happened to me shattered my trust and forever changed how I move through this industry.”
It sounds like something that used to happen in the film industry all the time — but would be unheard of now. Horrible if true.

Her lawyer James A. Vagnini also issued the following statement:
“This suit is filed not only for the damages Plaintiff has sustained, but to address the continued failures at the highest levels of Hollywood production companies to comprehend and address the impacts of performing in sexually explicit and violent ‘scenes’ and the need for intimacy coordination.”
At the time, Kevin’s lawyers hit back, insisting LaBella’s claims had “absolutely no merit”:
“As a stunt performer on ‘Horizon 2,’ the scene in question was explained to Ms. LaBella, and after she performed the rehearsal in character with another actor, she gave her Stunt Coordinator supervisor a ‘thumbs up’ and indicated her willingness to then shoot the scene, if needed (which she was not).”
Now they’re doubling down.
In a statement provided to TMZ on Tuesday, Kevin’s attorney Marty Singer claimed:
“[LaBella] was doing a rehearsal on an Insert Shot for a scripted scene. There was no intimacy or anything sexual in the shot. There was tugging on a dress while she was fully clothed in a dress with long bloomers lying down next to a male actor.”
He continued:
“Numerous witnesses have contradicted [LaBella’s] meritless claims. She herself texted her supervisor after she wrapped, stating, ‘Thank you for these wonderful weeks.’”
Whoa. Is this going to be another situation where the text message receipts are brought out to try to debunk movie set claims? Guess it didn’t end with us after all…
What are your thoughts on LaBella’s shocking claims?
