Kirsty Coventry was inaugurated Monday as the new president of the International Olympic Committee, becoming the first woman and first African to hold perhaps the most powerful seat in global sports. The 41-year-old former Olympic swimming champion from Zimbabwe took the reins from German Thomas Bach, who stepped down after a tumultuous 12-year tenure.
