Kristin Cavallari doesn’t regret going no contact with her father.
As Perezcious readers know, the Very Cavallari star revealed in 2023 she had completely cut her dad Dennis Cavallari out of her life. She said she’d done it about two years before because all she “knew growing up was that I didn’t want to be around him”. So sad.
The final straw, though, was when he “crossed a line” with her children. At the time, she said:
“You know, it’s like, I was always like, I can take it, you know, I can take the abuse. I have my whole life. But it’s like, when you start now messing with my kids, I’m not doing it.”
And now, several more years down the line, she’s reflecting on her decision — and she says it’s the “best” one she’s ever made. While speaking to People ahead of the premiere of her new show Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour, the 38-year-old said:
“I mean, honestly, and this might sound messed up to some people, but it’s the best decision I’ve ever made, cutting my dad out of my life. Such a weight has been lifted from me. There’s not one day where I miss him.”
She went on to say she had “35 years of buildup” before the decision was made:
“I don’t know if it was two or three years ago, but I mean, I was an adult, let’s say I was 35 [when I decided]. It was 35 years of buildup to that point.”

Kristin refused to give details on what actually happened between Dennis and her kids — Saylor, 9, Jaxon, 11, and Camden, 12 — but she’s “happy” her dad is no longer in the picture:
“[Cutting him off] was something that I had been wanting to do for a long time. He crossed the boundary with my kids [and] couldn’t even apologize. Like, you’re just gaslighting me. I don’t have time for that anymore.”
All in all? She says “life’s too short” for all that:
“If someone’s not bringing you joy, if people are only bringing you hurt and sadness and anger, what is the point? Even if it’s a parent, life’s too short.”
A decision that’s not made easy, but it’s great she prioritized herself and her kids. We’re glad they’re seeing happier days with the past behind them.
