Pahalgam Terror Attack Live Updates: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi today to discuss the situation in the Union Territory, days after terror attack in Pahalgam.
Meanwhile, a special search operation was conducted at an airport in Colombo after a tip-off that six suspects involved in the Pahalgam terror attack were on board a flight.
Earlier today, Pakistan military said it tested a surface-to-surface missile system with a range of 450 kilometres (280 miles) aimed at “ensuring the operational readiness of troops”.
Pakistani troops continued ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) for the ninth consecutive night by their unprovoked firing in five areas across Jammu & Kashmir, officials said, adding that the Indian military responded proportionately.
The exchange of fire took place amid heightened tensions and a string of tit-for-tat measures by the two countries over the April 22 terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam that killed 26 tourists. Civilians living along the LoC and International Border have begun cleaning their community and individual bunkers to make them habitable in case of escalation to shelling.
The violations come despite a recent hotline conversation between the Directors General of Military Operations of India and Pakistan, during which the Indian side is learnt to have cautioned Pakistan.
