Brazil employs more domestic workers than any other country in the world, with almost 6 million in total, according to official figures. But the majority of these women – victims of modern slavery – are paid by the day and have no employment contract or social security cover. Some of them end up being trafficked into prostitution. FRANCE 24’s Fanny Lothaire, Marine Resse and Mathieu Lemé report.
