Louvre heist raises fresh concerns over French museums’ security

The robbery at the Louvre on October 19, 2025, was the fourth in France in the space of just two months. In some cases, it is thought gangs may be operating for very rich art collectors. In 2024, police advised that museums increase their level of security and even recommended removing certain works.
