Love Island USA’s Ariana Madix Had To Remind Fans AGAIN To Not Be ‘Atrocious’ To Cast Amid Cierra Controversy

Ariana Madix is yet again asking Love Island USA viewers to cool it with the cyberbullying!

On Saturday’s episode of the dating series’ companion show Aftersun, the host called out fans who are still targeting cast members with heated and aggressive online behavior — despite several pleas to stop with the hate! The Vanderpump Rules alum expressed:

“I love the passion of the audience, but sometimes it’s like, ‘Give them a second to resolve their argument before you just hop online and start being absolutely atrocious to these Islanders.’ It blows my mind that again I have to say not to harass them on the internet. And I don’t understand why week after week we have to keep saying, ‘Don’t do that.’”

Oof.

This comment came the night before it was announced Cierra Ortega was removed from the villa after her racist posts emerged and following an uproar from fans to get her pulled from the island. Her family has since released a statement begging the internet to have “compassion” while blasting the “hate” all those connected to her have faced in light of this scandal, writing in a statement posted to her Instagram Story:

“What’s happening online right now has gone far beyond [accountability]. The threats. The cruel messages. The attacks on her family, her friends, even her supporters, it’s heartbreaking. It’s uncalled for. No one deserves that kind of hate.”

Even her cast member Belle-A Walker, who was glad to see the producers remove her from the show amid this upsetting situation, asked folks to “think twice before leaving unkind comments to or about this person.”

And as mentioned, this isn’t even Ariana’s first time hitting back at the negativity! In an episode of Aftersun last month, she also told fans not to “be contacting people’s families,” “doxxing people,” or leaving “rude” comments on their pages. Around the same time, producers added an anti-cyberbullying message in an actual episode and released a statement on all their social media platforms asking fans to be kind. That shows how much of a problem this has been! And it’s clearly weighing heavily on Ari!

In an interview with AP Entertainment on Monday, the Bravo personality continued to slam trolls while offering some advice for viewers:

“It just feels a little bit like, okay, let’s enjoy this show. Let’s engage in this discourse about this show. Let’s, you know, support the people you support, and if you really don’t vibe with a certain cast member, it’s probably best that you just don’t engage with them.”

For a franchise that has already lost three former stars to suicide, it’s certainly unnerving to see the level of hate being spewed at contestants. They’re humans, after all. Nobody deserves to be bullied! You can discuss the show — and hold people accountable — without being cruel.
