French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday called for the building of a “new special relationship” between the European Union and Asian countries in the Indo-Pacific region in a keynote address at the Shangri-La Dialogue security forum in Singapore. Amid trade tensions between the US and China, Macron stressed the need for “new coalitions” between “mid-size countries”.
