Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s wife has finally confirmed her identity.
It’s difficult to believe that it’s been nearly two months since The Cosby Show alum passed away in a shocking drowning incident in Costa Rica. Since the tragic news broke, friends, family, and fellow actors have poured out their love and admiration for the late star, but his wife stayed silent — maintaining a totally discreet profile. In fact, we never got so much as a word from her addressing the tragedy…
We can’t even begin to imagine how difficult it must have been for her to lose her partner like that, so she has all our respect and sympathies as she navigates the situation at her own pace. But now, she’s finally ready to reveal herself.

Over the weekend, Tenisha Warner took to Instagram to share never-before-seen photos from her and Malcolm’s wedding to celebrate their anniversary. She wrote:
“Thank you for holding us in so much love during this tender time. Tomorrow marks our anniversary — and my heart is wide open. For the first time, I’m sharing a glimpse of the love that began it all. I can still hear my husband’s laugh, still feel the way he made room for every part of me — every tear, every dream.”
What beautifully devastating words. She continued on to detail two new organizations she’s launching: River & Ember, and The Warner Family Foundation:
“Today, in his honor, my daughter and I are launching River & Ember and officially opening The Warner Family Foundation. Together we carry the legacy my husband and I began — one that nurtures children’s inner light and gives young artists the freedom to create outside the lines.”
The grieving widow concluded:
“This is love, Still moving. Still making. Still carrying us forward.”

Absolutely beautiful.
Just two days after his IRL wife spoke out, Malcolm also got a sweet not from his TV mom.
On Sunday, he was honored at the 2025 Emmys by Phylicia Rashad, who played his mother for many years on The Cosby Show. During her tear-jerking speech introducing this year’s In Memoriam, she said:
“He was a beloved teenager in an iconic television series who the world watched grow into manhood. And like all our friends and colleagues who transitioned this year, Malcolm-Jamal Warner remains in our hearts.”
The 77-year-old continued:
“Tonight, as is tradition at the Emmys, we remember them not just for their immense talent, but also for the way they made us believe in something bigger. The best that is within us. And even though they may not longer be here with us, we can all smile, knowing that their impact will remain, knowing that their lasting impressions will continue to live on in story, knowing that they touched our lives. Whether you grew up watching them or have just now just discovered their brilliance, their light remains in the very fabric of our industry.”
