Travis Decker is still at large. But even while the search for the accused child murderer bears no fruit, the investigation into his mind continues to move forward.
Decker was supposed to have visitation with his three daughters — Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5 — for three hours on Friday, May 30. But when he never brought the girls back their mother called the cops, and a desperate search began. Sadly, on Monday June 2 the three young sisters were found dead near his abandoned truck. It appears their wrists were zip-tied, and they were asphyxiated with plastic bags. It’s one of the most horrifying crimes in recent memory… and we’ve been struggling to even wrap our heads around it. What kind of person could do that? Travis is wanted for three counts of first-degree murder. If it was him, what kind of father could do such a thing??

The manhunt began at the Rock Island Campground near Leavenworth, Washington, where the girls were found. And upsettingly it’s still going after a week.
But we did get some clues thanks to a new US Marshals Service affidavit from the weekend, obtained by NBC News. The 32-year-old dad searched on Google in the days before the murders:
“how does a person move to canada”
“how to relocate to canada”
“jobs canada”
US Deputy Marshal Keegan Stanley added in the affidavit:
“After the above-listed Google searches, he visited the site ‘Find a job – Canada.ca.’”
Huh. That gives us two big pieces of information.
On the manhunt front, it may be a clue about where Travis was going. He was already in Washington state, thought to have fled into the wilderness. It seems like he telegraphed where he was headed — into Canada!
Border patrols may be tight — at roads — but there are huge stretches of border where there’s nothing but woods. If Travis was looking to move to Canada, he may have slipped through — or may yet be planning to.
The more upsetting aspect of this discovery? If these searches were from before the murders, then… does that imply he planned to do this days in advance? Had he been planning to kill his innocent daughters as one last act in his old life before escaping to a new one? What a horrifying thought…
