Matty Healy‘s still not over it…
While performing at the Glastonbury Festival in England on Friday, The 1975 frontman threw shots at his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift! The subtle jab came while he was chatting with the crowd (and hyping himself up), saying in footage obtained by Variety:
“I want to be sincere for a second with everybody. What this moment is making me realize is that I probably am the best. I’m probably the best songwriter of my generation.”

Referencing Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department album, in which many songs are believed to be about the Chocolate crooner, he went on:
“The best, what do we say… A poet, ladies and gentlemen, is what I am.”
Matty, who is now engaged to Gabbriette Bechtel, also called himself a “generational wordsmith,” saying:
“I just want to remind you [for] the next couple of minutes these lyrics, this poetry I bleed for you.”

That wasn’t the only reference he made to Taylor, either. He was also wearing a Peter Pan pin. He’s used the character to describe himself in the past, which seemingly inspired Taylor’s song Peter, which is thought to be about him. He can’t get her off his mind!
As you can imagine, fans weren’t thrilled with his shady commentary, reacting on X (Twitter):
“Awww he misses her”
“You know what they say, haters gunna hate hate hate”
“Way to be relevant: Come for Taylor unprovoked. Works every time”
“tortured man’s club this, greatest poet that. are you aware you are one of the smallest men who ever lived?”
Oof! Called out!
