Following the overwhelming response to re-launching her Cry Baby perfume, Melanie Martinez has dropped a new line of body sprays all for $30.
The “Cake” singer dropped a total of 13 body sprays under her line Portals Parfums, each with names meant to pay homage to tracks from Melanie Martinez’s third album, Portals. The collection just dropped today, Sept. 30, and is available to shop now at Portals Parfums’ website.
Toting whimsical and weird names like Womb, Death, Void, Light Shower and Faerie Soirée, these fragrances are 6 fl. oz and feature notes meant to mirror the same scents of the brand’s collection of hard-to-get Egg Candles that also went quite viral upon their release back in 2024. The virality of Martinez’s scented products in the past means it’s likely these body sprays will go just as quickly. You’ll want to get your hands on these before they’re gone for good.
With just one spritz, users are transported to vivid worlds that are translated through unique notes like milk, strawberry, wood, caramel, yuzu and black tea. If the unique scents don’t intrigue you, the price tag on these body sprays sure will. They’re exceedingly affordable, especially when compared to other high-end fragrances. With so much to choose from, you’re bound to find something that you vibe with. If you’re a fan of Martinez and new to the perfume game, we’ve got you covered. We’re breaking down a few of our favorite scents from the collection, giving you the downlow on everything you need to know before adding one, or all 13, body sprays to your cart.
Just a note for those curious. Body sprays are going to be less strong than your average perfume. The staying power is around two to four hours, meaning you’ll likely have to reapply often. For these body sprays, we’d recommend layering up alongside perfumes that have similar notes, creating a multilayered experience that lasts you longer. That way once the body spray wears off, you’ll still have scent left over.
First up, we’ve picked Womb, an orange flower and milk-scented spray in a milky bottle with a peachy pink cap. Yes, you heard that right, the top note is milk. This lends the scent a creamy and slightly powdery undertone while the orange flower is traditionally floral and sweet with hints of citrus. This spray is for those who prefer their scents on the sweeter and softer side. In a similar vein, we’ve picked Faerie Soirée, a body spray with a fuchsia cap. This is also another sweeter fragrance with notes like strawberry and vanilla. It’s one of the sweetest scented body sprays in this collection, and one we think would suit Martinez’s younger audience.
Void and Death are deeper, more mature scents—as the almost sinister names suggest. Death features a bright blue cap and is a Palo Santo and white sage-scented spray. Palo santo is sweet and woody and is often likened to licorice. Sage is complementary with its earthy and herbaceous notes, giving the body spray depth. Both notes combine to smell like an old church—in a good way, of course. Void is scented like smoky pine and wood, akin to a campfire in a pine tree forest. Both are more sophisticated scents that we can see Martinez’s older fans loving.
Finally, we’ve got Leeches, a body spray scented like black tea and amber with a burgundy cap. Black tea usually smells earthy, malty and sometimes sweet or floral, while amber smells spicy, resinous and musky. The resulting fragrance, accompanied by hits of honey and bright ginger, comes together to make it smell like you’ve just sat down for a relaxing cup of tea.
