The first Monday of May can’t come fast enough!
On Monday, the Metropolitan Museum of Art revealed the theme of the 2026 Met Gala… drumroll, please!

Costume Art!
In a release, curator Andrew Bolton revealed the theme will merge art with fashion to explore “the centrality of the dressed body.” Bolton added:
“Rather than prioritizing fashion’s visuality, which often comes at the expense of the corporeal, ‘Costume Art’ privileges its materiality and the indivisible connection between our bodies and the clothes we wear.”
It was revealed that approximately 200 garments and accessories will be paired with 200 artworks from Western prehistory to spotlight their “ubiquity and endurance through time and space,” according to the release. Categories will include “the Naked Body,” “the Classical Body,” “the Pregnant Body” and “the Mortal Body.” See Vogue’s official examples HERE.
