Miley Cyrus is speaking out after her controversial meet-and-greet with Naomi Campbell! But is this an apology? Or just a cop-out?
ICYMI, Smilers were NOT happy with their idol on Sunday after she and her collaborator did an impromptu event for fans in London. The duo sat down at the Rough Trade record store to sign some vinyls and meet some of their supporters, but that all quickly turned into disappointment when fans started to notice Miley was way more focused on Naomi than them.
Seriously, some of the videos were so sad to watch. Lots of photos even showed the Something Beautiful artist looking the other way while fans took photos with her. Bummer…
But she has a response! Excuse?

On Instagram Tuesday, the 32-year-old posted some pics from the signing, and wrote in the caption:
“Our vinyl was originally set to drop a week later, but since we were both in London @roughtradeeast made it happen day of. I wanted to gift my Smilers an exclusive experience & unreleased vinyl to thank you for the love you’ve shown me in the UK over the years. I saw so many familiar faces & met some sweet new ones.”
Her reasoning for all the controversy, though? It was the record store’s fault! Miley said:
“The record store requested no photos due to the unexpected last minute turn out but we knew the night needed to be captured. Thank you @vijatm for snapping those in the moment shots. To everyone who came out to celebrate our single, we love you.”
Throughout her post, she added a few videos of her actually talking to and interacting with the fans alongside Naomi. It’s good to see she actually put in some effort to meet and chat with at least some of her supporters — but of course we already knew that. Some fans got Miley, some got the cold shoulder.
So yeah, in the comments, fans weren’t so placated. Some critics wrote:
“did they request no eye contact with fans too?”
“The PR team working overtime DHDHDHD”
“Damage control. They have god complexes cuz yall give it to them”
“must be the only 10 vids where u acknowledge ur fans’ existence”
Others came to her defense, though, saying:
“Yes queen shut the haters down! I was at the signing and you and Naomi were nothing but sweet. Thankyou so much & it was amazing to finally meet you”
“Miley paid for every vinyl, the event was free and she even asked her photographer to make pic of the fans while it wasn’t allowed but she insisted!!!!”
“You were so sweet to everyone”
“Yes mother shut the haters down!!”
