Myanmar’s junta-picked acting president Myint Swe dies after a long illness

Myint Swe, the figurehead acting president handpicked by the military junta that seized power from Myanmar’s democratically elected government in 2021, died on Thursday after a long illness, the junta said. Myint Swe had been suspended since July due to ill health.
