In a secluded corner of California, NASA is trialling its portable aircraft management system designed to combat wildfires. Today, their aim is to ensure drones and remotely piloted helicopters remain within their designated flight paths, wildfire operation zones, and steer clear of any aerial collisions. Following the devastating wildfires in California earlier this year, NASA has been collaborating with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, including frontline firefighters, to tailor the system to meet the practical demands on the ground.
