Nations commemorate World War I armistice against backdrop of new conflict

Nations from Belgium to the UK and France on Tuesday marked Armistice Day commemorating the end of World War I in 1918 and the millions of lives lost. As leaders laid wreaths for peace, the ongoing wars in Ukraine, Gaza and Sudan cast a shadow – a reminder that more than a century later, peace remains fragile.
