Nicest-Looking Guy’: Trump’s Praise For PM, And Ceasefire Credit Grab

Donald Trump has repeated his claim about brokering the May 10 India-Pakistan ceasefire – claims New Delhi has repeatedly denied, insisting it was Islamabad that asked for a reprieve – and lavished praised on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the “the nicest-looking guy” as he did so.

In South Korea for the last leg of his Asia tour, the United States President segued from talking about the long-delayed India-US trade deal, which he indicated will be signed soon, into a ramble on Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

And, as he has so often in the past five months, Trump claimed not only to have negotiated the ceasefire, but stopped an India-Pak ‘nuclear war’ by refusing to sign trade deals with either side.

”These are two nuclear nations… and they were really going at it. So, I called Prime Minister Modi and said, ‘we can’t make a trade deal with you… we can’t. You’re starting a war with Pakistan’.””Prime Minister Modi is the nicest-looking guy (but) he is tough as hell. But after literally two days, they (India and Pak) called me up and said, ‘we understand’. And they stopped fighting.”
