New reports share that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have separated after nearly two decades of marriage.
The news of their split was first reported by TMZ yesterday (Monday September 29). The outlet claimed that it had learned of their separation after a source allegedly close to the singer and the actress revealed that the two of them had gone different ways since the start of the summer.
Kidman and Urban first started seeing one another in 2005, and went on to get married in Sydney, Australia, in June 2006.
They have two children together, Sunday Rose who is now 17-years-old, and Faith Margaret, who is now 14. Kidman also shares a son and a daughter with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise, who she was married to for 11 years.
Both Kidman and Urban made headlines earlier this year when it was revealed that their home was ransacked and burgled on Valentines Day. The LAPD responded to a break-in at their house at around 8pm local time, and fortunately, neither one of them were at home during that time.
Billboard also reports that Urban made headlines in July, when he “abruptly disconnected” from an interview with a radio station after being asked how it feels to see his wife act out “love scenes” in films.
Kidman recently made an acclaimed return to the screen as the star of the erotic thriller Babygirl.
In a four-star review of Babygirl, NME said: “This isn’t a perfect film, but it is a funny, fascinating one with terrific performances from Kidman – surely the bravest A-lister around – and Dickinson as an inscrutable wildcard. You’ll submit to Babygirl’s machinations willingly and thrillingly.”
In December, Kidman revealed that she almost quit acting for good in 2008 after the birth of her first child. If she had gone ahead with it, her last film would have likely been Baz Luhrmann‘s epic romance drama Australia.
Kidman said, reflecting on wanting to focus on her family full-time: “When I gave birth to Sunday I was like, ‘Well, I think I’m pretty much done now’. We were living on a farm, and that’s when my mother said, ‘I wouldn’t give up completely. Keep a finger sort of in it.’ And I’m like, ‘No, no. I’m done now. I’m done.’ She’s going, ‘Just listen to me. Keep moving forward. Not saying that you have to do it to the level you’ve been doing it, but I wouldn’t give it up completely.’”
She previously spoke about her marriage to Urban back in 2022, telling CBS Mornings that meeting him was “the best thing that’s ever happened to me”. Similarly, Billboard shares that, in 2020 Urban told Zane Lowe that the actor helped him to be “more fearless in artistry and go for the curious place that you want to go to as an artist”.
