Oasis’ Liam Gallagher becomes grandfather for first time

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has become a grandfather for the first time after his daughter Molly Moorish-Gallagher gave birth recently.

Liam’s 27-year-old daughter announced the news on Saturday (October 11) in a post on social media. Moorish-Gallagher shared images of her new baby, named Rudy, along with a caption that said “a message to you Rudy.” On one of the pictures Molly shared read a sign saying “we adore you.”

Moorish-Gallagher first confirmed on her Instagram that she was expecting her first child with her boyfriend, footballer Nathaniel Phillips, back in May. They have been together since 2022. The model and activist shared a carousel of photos of her with Phillips and baby clothes with the caption ‘bulking season’, at the time.

Moorish-Gallagher’s mother is the Oasis frontman’s former partner Lisa Moorish, singer of the band Kill City, who in 1995 provided backing vocals on an acoustic version Oasis’ ‘Fade Away’.

Gallagher did not meet his daughter until 2018, when she was 21 years old, revealing they had connected when he shared a photo of himself meeting Molly along with his sons Gene and Lennon. They’ve since become close, with Gallagher’s relationship with his daughter being touched upon in the documentary As It Was.

“I don’t have any anger,” Moorish told The Sunday Times in 2019 when asked about her experience growing up without Gallagher in her life. “I’m 21 now. I’m actually thankful for how I was brought up with my mum and how my life’s been. I wouldn’t be who I am now if…. It’s all happened the way it was meant to happen. We just got on and I’m happy to have him now.”

In 2017, Gallagher had said that his daughter had been “best off with her mum” but said he was open to meeting her.

“The girl’s been looked after and clothed and fed and sent to lovely schools,” Gallagher said in an interview with GQ. “I bought them a house and all that tack. I just think she’s best off with her mum…They aren’t good when they are forced, these things. I think we leave it be. See what happens. If it happens it happens. Certainly, wouldn’t turn her away, man. Let it be.”

“She’s welcome in my world and that, you know what I mean? Without a doubt. But I just ain’t met her because her mam’s … Listen, we don’t work. We don’t get on.”

After they met, Gallagher wrote the song ‘Now That I’ve Found You’ in honour of her, which appeared on his 2019 album ‘Why Me? Why Not’.

In other news, Liam recently teased more Oasis reunion tour dates.

Liam stirred rumours on social media that the mighty ‘Oasis Live ’25’ tour may not be over yet. As it stands, the band have 13 dates remaining across Asia, Australia and South America.

Liam took to Twitter to respond to a fan asking why ‘The Hindu Times’ has not been a part of their reunion setlists – with Noel apparently having claimed that they wouldn’t be changing the setlist at any point on the tour. “Chill Winston it’s not even HALF TIME yet,” Liam replied. “It’s a tour of 2 half’s”.

There’s been speculation that Oasis may return to celebrate the 30th anniversaries of their legendary Maine Road and Knebworth gigs by playing Etihad Stadium and Knebworth next year. However, no concerts there have been confirmed so far.

The band also recently announced the reissue of their popular Wembley live album ‘Familiar To Millions’ to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The reissue will offer the record in limited edition formats in both 2CD and 3LP formats, with the vinyl coming in Official Story silver, Amazon red and black marble and HMV blue vinyl. It’s set to drop on November 14 via Big Brother Recordings – and you can pre-order your copy here.
