Marcel Ophuls, Oscar-winning director of “The Sorrow and the Pity,” a landmark documentary exposing France’s WWII collaboration with Nazis, died aged 97, his family said Monday. Son of famed German filmmaker Max Ophuls, he “died peacefully on May 24,” his grandson said in a statement.
