As part of a nationwide crackdown launched in October 2023 to expel illegal residents, Pakistan plans to deport 3 million Afghans from the country this year. The move has been widely criticized by human rights groups, the Taliban government and the UN. At the begininng of last month, Islamabad announced that 800,000 Afghan Citizen Cards would be cancelled. Catherine Viette tells us more.
