Philippines: Super Typhoon Ragasa hits the country, thousands evacuated

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr placed the Philippines’ disaster response agency on full alert and ordered the mobilisation of all government bodies as Super Typhoon Ragasa approached the northern region, triggering storm warnings across East and Southeast Asia. With sustained winds of 215 km/h and gusts reaching up to 295 km/h, Ragasa made landfall on Calayan Island in Cagayan province, prompting the state weather agency to warn of potential storm surges exceeding three metres.
