Pope Francis’ coffin has arrived at St. Mary Major Basilica, also known as Santa Maria Maggiore, where a private burial ceremony will take place later today. The arrival was met by around 40 migrants, prisoners, homeless individuals, and transgender people, each holding a white rose, symbolizing the pope’s deep care for the marginalized. The coffin was then carried into the basilica, escorted by the Vatican’s Swiss Guards. Clovis Casali reports from the Vatican.
