Princess Catherine is getting remarkably candid up about life post cancer treatment.
The 43-year-old visited the Colchester Hospital in England on Wednesday and detailed the “really, really difficult” period of life she’s been going through ever since completing chemotherapy in September. While speaking with patients and volunteers, she opened up like never before:
“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually [that’s not the case].”
Wow, so honest!

She went on to reveal a very sobering reality:
“You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to.”
She didn’t explicitly detail how that manifests for her, but boy. We can’t even begin to imagine how difficult that must be.
Prince William’s wife noted that having “someone to help talk you through that,” and to “show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment” is something she considers to be “really valuable.” The mom of three added:
“You have to find your new normal and that takes time … It’s a roller coaster, it’s not smooth, like you expect it to be. But the reality is you go through hard times.”
In the months since completing chemo, Princess Catherine has slowly but surely inched her way back into the royal spotlight. But last month, sources claimed she’s once again taking a step back from the public to figure out a proper “work-life balance.”
Our hearts are with her as she continues to heal physically and mentally from a grueling year.
