The update marks the latest instance in which the group have spoken about the upcoming album. The K-pop juggernauts in early July reunited for the first time since 2022, with all seven members having completed their mandatory military service in South Korea. During a special livestream, BTS confirmed rumours that they were preparing to release new music.
“We’ll be releasing a new BTS album in the spring of next year. Starting in July, all seven of us will begin working closely together on new music. Since it will be a group album, it will reflect each member’s thoughts and ideas. We’re approaching the album with the same mindset we had when we first started,” BTS said in a statement at the time.
“We’re also planning a world tour alongside the new album,” they added. “We’ll be visiting fans all around the world, so we hope you’re as excited as we are.”
In October, RM suggested that the group have a definitely timeline set for their return: “We have to keep preparing for the album — we’ll shoot the album photos and film the music video. Please look forward to late March.”
BTS went on hiatus in 2022, so that its members could also “explore some solo projects”, while juggling their mandatory military service. Their last album came in the form of 2020’s ‘Be’.
