Four journalists in Russia were sentenced to five and a half years in a penal colony on Tuesday, accused of involvement with Alexei Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation. The journalists, who worked for both independent and international outlets, remained defiant in court—one even eating popcorn during sentencing, a gesture her lawyer said mocked the trial’s theatrical nature.
