Savannah Chrisley is finally responding to the accusations her mother faked her cancer diagnosis.
During Tuesday’s episode of her Unlocked podcast, the 27-year-old addressed online claims that her mother Julie Chrisley “faked” breast cancer to “avoid court proceedings” as she and Todd faced trial for tax fraud:
“I was literally dumbfounded to see the accusations that were being made. Apparently, she ‘faked her breast cancer diagnosis to avoid court proceedings,’ was what this individual said.”
It would be a deplorable thing to do if so. But according to Savannah, the timeline doesn’t add up:
“Let’s take it back. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. They weren’t federally or criminally charged till 2019. So that right there completely debunks your whole theory.”
The podcaster continued:
“But for people who want to know, when mom was diagnosed … Dad picked me up from school, mom had a doctor’s appointment that day. I’ll never forget finding out that mom had breast cancer.”
What an awful memory. Savannah recalled:
“She went to Northside Hospital in Atlanta, she had a biopsy done … We went to Johns Hopkins in Maryland and they said, ‘Hold on, you actually have two spots, not just one.’ And that’s when they gave her the option to do a lumpectomy mastectomy, and then proceeded to give her her long term plan.”
She recalls Julie “immediately opted for a double mastectomy because the recurrence rate with a lumpectomy is much higher.”

At the time, Todd and Julie’s youngest child Grayson was only 6 years old, so the momma “knew that she could not risk the chances of her cancer coming back”:
“That’s why she chose to have a full double mastectomy.”
Savannah revealed her mother also underwent a full hysterectomy because “her cancer was estrogen driven, so they wanted to get rid of all her female parts that produced estrogen.” She claimed Julie had “two or three reconstructive surgeries” and “slept in a recliner” for a year “because she couldn’t stand to lay all the way down”:
“So for someone to make an accusation that my mother lied about having breast cancer at the age of 39, there truly is a special place in hell for you. It’s that simple.”
The young entrepreneur also added that because of her mother’s history, she herself has started getting mammograms early. She also suffers from endometriosis, and claimed that doctors informed her she has a 35 percent chance of developing breast cancer in her life.
