Spider-Man star Tom Holland has been injured on the set of Brand New Day.
The actor’s fourth solo adventure as Peter Parker will arrive in cinemas on July 31, 2026, ten years after his first appearance as the character in Captain America: Civil War. Filming is now well underway, but currently on pause following Holland’s on-set injury.
The incident, which was said to have occurred on set at Watford’s Leavesden Studios on Friday (September 19), reportedly left him with a mild concussion after a stunt went awry and he hit his head.
Per Deadline, the actor was then taken to the hospital, and filming was suspended afterwards. Holland is now expected to take a break from filming for a few days as a precaution, with Sony Pictures, who are co-producing the film with Marvel Studios, meeting today (September 22) to discuss how to move forward with the production.
The following day, several outlets reported that he and fiancée Zendaya attended the Posh Pub Quiz fundraising event with The Brothers Trust, the charity he runs alongside his three brothers, Sam, Harry and Paddy Holland. The Sun later reported that The Odyssey actor was forced to leave the event early after feeling ill.
Brand New Day will be the 38th film overall in the MCU and will serve as the second entry in Phase Six, the follow-up to the current release The Fantastic Four: First Steps. It comes directed by Shang-Chi filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton, and will feature the return of previous cast mates Zendaya and Jacob Batalon.
It will also pick up the Spider-Man story after the events of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, a film that saw an appearance from Doctor Strange break open the multiverse and bring several surprise visitors into Peter Parker’s universe – including his alternate versions played by Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.
In a four-star review of that film, NME wrote: “No Way Home is the ultimate Spider-Man film. There are moments here that make you want to cheer and weep simultaneously. It’s not the most visually spectacular, it’s not the funniest, but it’s the most emotionally rich. For Spider-Man fans who’ve stuck with the character through the soaring highs and the sticky lows, this is your reward. And it makes it all worth it.”
The MCU’s previous Spider-Man films were Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and all three up to this point were directed by Jon Watts, also known for Wolfs and Cop Car.
