Hard-right nationalist George Simion secured a decisive win Sunday in the first round of Romania’s presidential election redo which took place after last year’s vote was annulled. Simion’s win “confirms the rise of the far right in Romania”, FRANCE 24’s Maria Gerth-Niculescu said, reporting from Bucharest.
